Follow That Bird, released in 1985 and directed by Ken Kwapis, is a first of two Sesame Street films (followed in 1999 by Elmo in Grouchland). Big Bird is shipped off to Illinois after the Feathered Friends Society decrees that he must live with “his own kind.” While on his way to live with the Dodo family, Big Bird escapes and embarks on a trek to get back to Sesame Street. However, his journey won’t be an easy one, a nefarious duo, the Sleaze Brothers, is after him, looking to capture Big Bird for their Fun Fair. The film is a musical, featuring music by Waylon Jennings, Alabama, Ronnie Milsap, and, of course, the whole Sesame Street cast. Cameos in Follow that Bird come thick and fast, including a variety of Hollywood luminaries such as Chevy Chase, Sandra Bernhard, John Candy, Waylon Jennings, Joe Flaherty, Dave Thomas, and Sally Kellerman.
