Fort Utah is a 1967 Pictures by-the-numbers Western following a renegade Army sergeant Dajin (Scott Brady) who's gone insane and puts together a crew of vicious outlaw mercenaries who take control of a fort, then attack local settlements and Indians in brutal raids to enrich himself. Fortunately, retired gunfighter Tom Horn (John Ireland) partners with old buddy Ben Stokes (Robert Strauss), and brave Indian agent Scarecrow (Jim Davis). They set out to take down the outlaws and restore peace to the natives and the imperiled pioneers. Richard Arlen and John Russell co-star as Sam Tyler and Eli Jonas. In reality, Tom Horn was an American Old West lawman, scout, soldier, hired gunman, detective, outlaw and assassin. On the day before his 43rd birthday, he was hanged for the murder of Willie Nickell. Tom Horn is also the subject of two other movies, Mr. Horn (1979), a made-for-TV movie starring David Carradine, and Tom Horn (1980) starring Steve McQueen.moreless
