Foul Play is a 1978 mystery-comedy starring the lovable duo Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase. Goldie plays divorcee and librarian Gloria Mundy who is starting to feel down about her mundane life. On a whim, she picks up a hitchhiker who secretly plants on her a roll of film, which is wanted by a group of bad guys. This role of film unwittingly puts her in the middle of a plot to assassinate the pope and Gloria struggles to keep up as her normal life starts to unravel. She tries to get help, but has trouble finding anyone to believe her bizarre claims that involve murder, a dwarf, and an albino. One clumsy cop, Tony Carlson (Chevy Chase), comes to her aid and the pair set off trying to uncover the mystery while also trying to outrun their own would-be murderers. This movie has the feel of a Hitchcock thriller, but with a comedic and light-hearted twist. It also marks Chevy Chase's first movie role following "Saturday Night Live."moreless
