Four Christmases is a romantic comedy from 2008 that was written by Matt Allen, Caleb Wilson, Scott Moore, and Jon Lucas and directed by Seth Gordon. Brad (Vince Vaughn) and Kate (Reese Witherspoon) have been dating for three years and are happy without marriage or kids. They typically spend their Christmases on vacation so that they don't have to face their own (and each others') families. Each of them have divorced parents, unhappy siblings, and wild nieces and nephews and they prefer to forget their pasts than revisit them every year. On their third Christmas together, their flight to Fiji is canceled due to bad weather and their families guilt the couple into visiting on the holiday. They first visit Brad's father (Robert Duvall), and then continue on to Kate's mother (Mary Steenburgen), Brad's mother (Sissy Spacek), and finally Kate's father (Jon Voight). By the final visit of the day, Brad and Kate have discovered secrets about each other that threaten their relationship. Throughout the day, Kate begins to realize that she might want marriage and kids after all but Brad hasn't been swayed from how he felt before Christmas day. Will Brad and Kate be able to reconcile their past lives with their current relationship, or will their four Christmases drive them further apart than every before?
