Four of the Apocalypse is a gritty gore film about an unexpected band of travelers' adventures fleeing from one western town to the next. Hoping to make a few bucks running his game, renowned card shark Stubby Preston (Fabio Testi) heads to Salt Flat, Utah, but ends up locked up in jail instead. His incarceration, however, proves to be a good thing when a massacre at the hands of a group of ruthless bandits turns the Utah local into a virtual ghost town. After paying off the local sheriff, Preston sets out on the road with his fellow inmates, a motley crew containing Bunny O'Neill (Lynne Frederick), a pregnant prostitute, Clem (Michael J. Pollard), a hopeless alcoholic, and Bud (Harry Baird), a crazy person who is convinced he sees ghosts. Hoping to make it to the next nearby town of Sand City, the group is sidetracked when they pick up a fifth passenger, Chaco (Tomas Milian), who poisons them and leaves them for dead. Now grasping at any chance for survival, this surprising collection of travelers must lean on each other to make it out alive. King of gore Lucio Fulci directs this very peculiar film that is as introspective as it is violent.moreless
