The Fox and the Child is a 2007 French and British film that tells the story of a 10-year-old girl and how she befriends a local fox. While the girl is walking to school through a forest, she discovers a fox. The fox becomes frightened and runs away, but the girl has a strong desire to meet the fox again. Though the girl spends months in the forest looking for the fox, it is not until winter that she encounters him again. One day, while following freshly made tracks in the snow, the girl hears wolves howling nearby. She becomes frightened and runs away, but trips and hurts her ankle. She is forced to spend the winter inside the house, and uses her time to read books all about wild animals. When the spring comes she begins watching the fox and eventually is able to feed him out of her hand. The two become friendly, until one day the girl decides to take the fox into the house to show him her bedroom. Things go awry when the fox panics and tries to escape. The girl then learns a valuable lesson about befriending wild animals. Directed by Luc Jacquet, the English language version of the film is narrated by Kate Winslet.moreless
