Foxfire Light is the story of a privileged Northern girl, Joanna Morgan (Faye Grant), who travels to the Ozark Mountains to visit her Uncle Reese (Leslie Nielsen). Joanna's preconceived notions of the Southern lifestyle cause her to have some run-ins with her uncle's neighbors. She feels that these mountain people are uneducated and lacking in certain manners that people from her world exhibit on a daily basis. Joanna eventually realizes that, while their ways may be simple, the truth found in the lives of the mountain people is deep and poignant. She learns about love when she falls for the rugged and gentlemanly Linc (Barry Van Dyke), but the cultural differences prove troublesome for the pair. Foxfire Light highlights the differences in lifestyles between urban northerners and southern mountain people, and shows the effect that simple, yet powerful, homespun truth can have on someone who is willing to strip all of their notions of how the world should learn.
