Fracture is a 2007 crime thriller about an elaborate plan of a husband to kill his wife. Theodore Crawford (Anthony Hopkins) is a millionaire aeronautical engineer that lives in Los Angeles. His wife, Jennifer (Embeth Davidtz), is having an affair with a local police detective named Robert Nunally (Billy Burke). When Crawford finds out about the affair he decides to shoot his wife. However, Jennifer doesn't die, instead she is seriously hospitalized and put on life support. Crawford is quickly arrested for the attempted murder of his wife and a young, success hungry, prosecuting attorney named William Beachum (Ryan Gossling) is assigned to the trial. Strangely enough, a sure win case turns into a complicated battle for the truth. Crawford decides to represent himself, which turns out to be all part of an intricate murder plan. When the murder weapon fails to match up with Crawford's gun, he is acquitted of the charges and let free. But Beachum is determined to uncover what he believes to be the truth, that Crawford did in fact try to murder his wife.moreless
