Fragments is a 2008 drama which artistically illustrates the varying effects trauma has on one's psychological well-being. The film is based on a contemporary novel by Roy Freirich called Winged Creatures. Roman Woods directs. A disheveled and disturbed man enters a diner one afternoon and opens fire on innocent people. He randomly choses his targets, and eventually turns the gun on himself. Six people make it out alive, but their futures are forever changed. The film follows each character as he or she deals with the aftermath of the event. Each individual is engulfed and emotionally-crippled by intense feelings of fear, loneliness, and guilt. They struggle to piece back together the fragments of their broken lives. The cast includes nothing by Hollywood A-listers, such as Kate Beckinsale, Dakota Fanning, Forest Whitaker, Guy Pearce, Josh Hutcherson, and Jennifer Hudson, who really drive the message home. Get yourself together and watch this film!
