Freaked (directed by Tom Stern and Alex Winter) is a 1993 science fiction-flavored black comedy. The EES (Everything Except Shoes) corporation needs to improve the public image of Zygrot 24, its toxic chemical fertilizer. EES hires former child star Ricky Coogan (Alex Winter) to quell anti-Zygrot 24 protests in the South American country of Santa Flan. While in Santa Flan, Ricky and his pal Ernie (Michael Stoyanov) meet comely young environmentalist Julie (Megan Ward). On the road to an anti-Zygrot 24 protest, the two men's true agenda is revealed, but the trio are stuck with each other for the rest of the trip. The three take a side trip to visit Freek Land, a freak show run by Elijah C. Skuggs (Randy Quaid). Skuggs reveals that he uses Zygrot to create his attractions and promptly turns the unlucky trio into his latest freakshow attractions. As Ricky, Ernie, and Julie get to know their fellow freaks, the deformed friends form a plan to give Skuggs and the makers of Zygrot a taste of their own medicine.moreless
