Free Radicals (B'se Zellen) is an ambitious film that tackles many philosophies on life, however there is one overarching theme: despite our arguments against the contrary, life is best explained through happenstance, rather than by religion or science. This 2003 German "art house" film was written and directed by Barbara Albert (Nordrand). Free Radicals follows a seemingly blessed woman named Manu (Kathrin Resetarits) who survives a plane crash. As happenstance will have it, she dies six years later in a car crash. The culprit? A young boy who walks away with barely a scratch. As happenstance will have it, his older brother was abducted when he was younger and his parents now face the burden of grievance once again. "And so on." After several cycles of stories, each interwoven and linked to one another, Albert explains that there is no explanation to the events we experience in life. Not everything can be chalked up to God's will or scientific theory. Free Radicals is a film for all those interested in mulling over several philosophies'even once the movie has ended.moreless
