Freejack is a futuristic science fiction film directed by Geoff Murphy. The film follows the series of events surrounding character Alex Furlong (Emilio Estevez). The majority of the film is set in the wasteland that New York City has become during the 21st Century. The people living in the wasteland are technologically advanced and have perfected a method of time travel. They use this tool to go back in time and snatch the bodies of people who are at the brink of death in order to harvest healthy organs to replace their own that are suffering due to environmental toxins. Furlong is a race-car driver destined to die in an accident during a race, but is taken by the bonejackers, a group of people from the future who specialize in whisking bodies away before injury. He soon finds that not only has the world changed in the future, but that the people he once knew have changed with it.
