Friends with Money is a drama romance film that follows the daily struggles of a group of women. Olivia (Jennifer Aniston) is a single woman working as a maid in Los Angeles. She is depressed because she is broke and unlucky when it comes to love. Christine (Catherine Keener) is a television writer whose marriage is falling apart due to a lack of communication. Jane (Frances McDormand) is a fashion designer who is sometimes difficult to be around because of her sexual frustrations and the beginning stages of menopause. Franny (Joan Cusack) is a stay at home mom whose husband enjoys spending her inheritance money. This causes tension in their marriage. Although these women all lead different lives and have their own issues, they get together often, to have a laugh and even cry together. Frances McDormand won the Best Supporting Female Award at the 2006 Independent Spirit Awards for her role as Jane.

    Variety Todd McCarthy

Stealing the show is Jane, whose rage-fueled rants and scarcely concealed mutterings are loaded with sarcastic bon mots that are delivered to the hilt by McDormand.
