Fraulein Doktor, based on the legend of the German spy master Annemarie Lesser (Suzy Kendall), is a campy First World War thriller. The film follows the plot of Lesser and her cadre of spies to assassinate British Field Marshall Lord Kitchener and endanger the British war effort. Meyer (James Booth), a British intelligence agent, learns of Lesser's schemes and captures Colonel Foreman (Kenneth More), one of her German agents. After Meyer convinces Foreman that Lesser is dead, Foreman is determined to confirm the story and tracks Lesser himself. The British follow closely on Foreman's tail and a mad hunt for Lesser ensues. Lesser battles morphine addiction, seduces lesbian doctors and travels through Russia, Germany, Britain, and Spain to escape the British. This cat-and-mouse tale contains enough double crosses and double agents to keep even the most diehard fans of spy thrillers on the edge of their seats. The riveting score was composed by Ennio Morricone.
