Funny People is a comedy-drama film that came out in the summer of 2009. The film was written, produced, and directed by modern comedy film legend, Judd Apatow. The film is about George Simmons (Adam Sandler), a rich but completely lonely stand-up comic and comic movie star that is in his late forties and is diagnosed with cancer. The film takes the audience on a funny but emotionally turbulent ride into the life of George and his newly hired assistant and writer, Ira Wright (Seth Rogen). Ira is a young aspiring comic himself and would do anything for the comedy legend. Ultimately, the movie is about loving the ones you've lost and taking a journey to find out who you really are. It is an emotional, comical, and touching story. The film also stars Leslie Mann (Laura), Jonah Hill (Leo Konig), Jason Schwartzman (Mark Taylor Jackson), and Eric Bana (Clarke).
