Futureworld is the 1976 science fiction thriller follow-up to the successful "Westworld." The Delos holiday complex, which allows rich vacationers to live out their fantasies, has recovered from the computer mishap that caused their lifelike robots to attack visitors. Reporters Chuck Browning (Peter Fonda) and Tracy Ballard (Blythe Danner) have been invited to the opening, but harbor suspicions that the resort has truly been made safe. Browning received a tip that there was a secret behind Delos, but the source mysteriously dies before his meeting. The reporters explore the new park and enjoy the boxing robots, holographic chess and fantasy trips to space, complete with sex robots. Underneath the glossy entertainments, they discover clues to a frightening global conspiracy aimed at the V.I.P. clientele. Director Richard T. Heffron stays true to the Michael Crichton original, while taking the story in a new conspiracy-centric direction. Yul Brynner also returns as The Gunslinger.
