1991
Rating:
PG-13
F/X2 returns with its unique mixture of murder, suspense and a behind-the-scenes glimpse of movie magic. Special effects expert Rollie Tyler (Bryan Brown) has quit the film business after a frightening brush with the Mafia. Now he uses his talent for gadgets and illusion creating intricate marvelous toys until his girlfriend, Kim Brandon (Rachel Ticotin), asks Rollie to help out her ex-husband, police officer Mike (Tom Mason) with a case. Something goes wrong in the operation, both Mike and the suspect are dead, which leaves only Rollie knowing that someone ordered a hit. He calls on old accomplice, retired cop Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy), now working as a private investigator and the two reunite to solve a new case. A case which Lieutenant Ray Silak (Philip Bosco) of NYPD seems curiously uninterested in solving. Director Richard Franklin follows the crisp, high action style of the original "F/X" in this 1991 action sequel.
