Gable and Lombard is a 1976 romantic biography directed by Sidney J. Furie. In the film, Clark Gable (James Brolin) is MGM's star actor. Gable attends all the important Hollywood parties and is desired by many directors and women. At this time, Gable was still married to his second wife, Rita Gable (Joanne Linville), but the relationship is in trouble. A chance encounter with a less known actress, Carole Lombard (Jill Clayburgh) leads to a Hollywood romance. At first, the two thespians did not like each other at all and their first encounter ends with Lombard punching Gable in the jaw. As time goes on and they kept running into each other, a romance buds. The couple love to laugh, fight and keep each other company. Eventually, Gable's wife grants him a divorce and the new couple enjoys a Hollywood wedding. Do Gable and Lombard have the happily ever after people dream about, or is their union purely make-believe?
