Gangs of the Dead, previously released as Last Rites, is a zombie horror film directed by Duanne Stinnett and starring Reggie Bannister (Santos) and Enrique Almeida (Mitchell). The film has a unique story scheme because it follows two interwoven subplots and not just one single plot. The perfect breeding ground for zombies forms when a meteorite falls into downtown Los Angeles. Hidden inside the meteorite is a mutant alien bacteria that turn humans into killer zombies. The humans are helpless as the zombie pandemic spreads throughout the city, leaving two warring gangs to fight to the death over whatever is left. As the El Diablo and the Lords of Crenshaw gangs fight each other, the city begins to disappear with them. The movie paints a grisly portrait of the lengths that some groups are willing to go to assert their influence on one another. The viewer is left wondering what they would fight for during a zombie pandemic.moreless
