Ganja and Hess is the famed 1973 cult horror sensation from writer-director Bill Gunn (Stop, Personal Problems) and featuring the acclaimed leading actor from that other cult horror classic Night of the Living Dead, Duane Jones. The film centers on the relationship between Dr. Hess Greene (Jones) and a woman named Ganja (Marlene Clark, Enter the Dragon) who comes to his secluded estate to meet up with her husband. The only problem is, her husband is dead. Dr. Greene is a vampire and has the body of the unfortunate man (who was suicidal and quite unstable to begin with) in a freezer in the basement. Since Ganja's arrival is unexpected, Greene has no choice but to allow her to come to the house until he can figure out what to do about the situation. They fall in love and viewers witness the development of their devotion to one another, coupled with Greene's guilt and religious conviction. After turning Ganja into a vampire as well, Greene gets tired of continuing on and on and commits suicide, leaving her to carry on without him.moreless
