Gas Food Lodging is the 1992 independent cult favorite from up and coming female filmmaker Allison Anders (Mi Vida Loca, Four Rooms). Telling the tale of a lonely, creative girl living with her mom and older sister in a trailer park in New Mexico, this is a beautiful film about three women struggling to find acceptance in a small New Mexico town. The mother and her elder daughter struggle to deal with men who are, for whatever reason, loathe understanding their needs, while the youngest daughter is just beginning to learn that love frequently hurts more than it seems to be worth. All three women are as angry with themselves and one another as they are with the men, however. Starring Brooke Adams (Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Dead Zone), Ione Skye (Say Anything, Zodiac), Fairuza Balk (The Craft, The Waterboy, Return to Oz) and James Brolin (Catch Me If You Can).
