Gattacca is a 1997 science fiction film starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Jude Law in a story about a society where scientists can tell everything about a person based on their DNA, and peoples lives are determined by their genetic predispositions. Hawke plays Vincent Freeman, a man whose genes say hes inferior to the genetic elite that run most organizations. He dreams of being an astronaut but because of genetic screening he cant get admitted to any aerospace programs. Despite what his genes say, he believes in his own abilities and uses DNA samples from a disabled athlete (Law) to fool his superiors into thinking hes predisposed to physical greatness. If he can fool everyone into thinking hes genetically elite, he may be able to achieve his dreams and disprove the current discriminatory standards.
