When spoiled Dylan Shoenfield (Sarah Hyland), Woodlands Academy's most popular junior, accidentally drops her designer handbag into the mall fountain, the school's film geek, Josh Rosen (Matt Prokop) jumps in to retrieve it. Although Dylan would not usually interact with Josh, to return the favor, she agrees to be the subject of his documentary for the school film contest – with the hope that the film will help her win the coveted Blossom Queen crown. While Josh sets out to make a hard-hitting film about Dylan and her social hierarchy, once the cameras start rolling he sees there's more to her than meets the eye.

  • How about that.

Surprisingly, this movie isn't that bad.

I figured this movie would be as dull as the other piles of shit they have to show kids, but interestingly enough the movie is actually GOOD. I kind of feel like an asshole saying that, but it's at least worth to watch once or twice.
  • Watchable, but barely

Geek Charming is one of those movies that was clearly written by someone whose perceptions of high school and love came entirely from stupid teen romance novels. It addresses the concept of popularity and almost, almost being the key word here, becomes somewhat interesting by showing what going from unpopular to cool can do to you. It dodges the bullet at the last second, preferring to stick to its painfully predictable plot.

Occasionally, it's funny, sometimes, it's sweet, but mostly it's dull and predictable. It has the benefit of decent characters, but it never steps outside its comfort zone. It won't make you demand your hour and a half back, but there are certainly better things you could've done.moreless
