Gene Autry Collection: Colorado Sunset is a Gene Autry western about a veterinarian who is trying to intimidate local dairy farmers. When Gene and his trusted sidekick Frog Milhouse (Smiley Burnette) buy a cattle ranch, they are surprised to find that it is full out dairy cows. Moreover, Gene and Frog find that the powerful, shady, veterinarian Doc Blair (Robert Barrat) is using intimidation and force to prevent the milk deliveries from making it to market. Blair even has the local sheriff (William Farnum) killed, and has one of his men, Dave Haines (Buster Crabbe), run to take his place, but not before Gene can step in. He runs against Haines, winning the election, hoping to restore order to the shaken town. But when he discovers that Carol Haines (June Storey), the naive and frightened sister of the slain sheriff is secretly getting coded messages to Blair's henchmen, Gene sets out to win her back to the side of the good guys, taking matters in his own hands. George Sherman directs Colorado Sunset, featuring songs from Autry and the Texas Troubadors.moreless
