Rancho Grande is a 1940 musical western directed by Frank McDonald that stars Gene Autry, the famous singing cowboy. Autry plays the foreman of a ranch that has been heavily mortgaged and might be destroyed so as to make way for a dam. Complicating his worries is the fact that the ranch's heirs, the siblings Kay, Patsy, and Tom Dodge, are on their way and have a big reputation as being horribly irresponsible. It is now up to Gene to teach the young heirs and keep the ranch within their control. However Kay and Tom want to turn the ranch into a pleasure resort for their society friends from the East and the dodge family attorney Emory Benson wants to help them achieve this. Can Gene save the ranch, and sing a little as he does so? Yes, of course he can. Did you expect anything else, really?
