Silver Canyon is a 1951 western film directed by John English that features the famous singing cowboy Gene Autry. The film is set during the Civil War. Gene Autry plays a U.S Army Scout who is sent alongside his friend Cougar Clagget (played by Pat Buttram) to Utah where they must stop the Confederate guerilla raider Wade McQuarrie (played by Jim Davis, but not the Jim Davis who made Garfield) who has been interfering with the supply lines of the Federals. Gene and Cougar track the raiders to a frontier post called Gateway that is commanded by Colonel Middler (played by Edgar Dearing). Middle has two children, a daughter named Dell (played by Gail Davis) and a son named Walt (played by Bob Steele).Walt secretly is supporting McQuarrie's raiding. However Dell and Gene get captured by McQuarrie. Cane Gene and Cougar help them escape and save the day?
