Valley of Fire is a 1951 musical western film directed by John English featuring the famous singing cowboy, Gene Autry. It was shot in sepia toned film as a gimmick to try to make up for it not being in color like many of the Roy Roger films of that time period were. Gene plays the mayor of a California boomtown, Quartz City, in 1850. He wants to rid his town of gambling and try to tame the rowdy population which is only males. He brings in a caravan of beautiful women to hopefully settle down the townsfolk. However a renegade gang wants to kidnap the women and bring them to a rival mining camp and then take over the town themselves. Can Gene stop these ruffians and save the would be brides? Valley of Fire costars Gail Davis, Pat Buttram (playing Gene's trusty deputy), and Champion, the World's Wonder Horse.
