Genevieve is a classic film about a classic car named Genevieve. No one can quite understand Alan McKim (John Gregson) or his passion for vintage cars, particularly Genevieve. His wife, Wendy (Dinah Sheridan), largely responds to his droning lectures with eye-rolling and disinterest. Meanwhile his colleague, Ambrose Claverhouse (Kenneth More), has nothing but critical things to say about Alan's dream car. Alan will not be dissuaded. He takes his wife and neighbors along to the great Brighton Commemoration Run to show off his car's speed and beauty. Ambrose lambastes him along the way, and a series of misfortunes pushes Alan off the deep end of frustration. Alan makes an unwise bet with Ambrose, placing one hundred pounds on the confident assertion that Genevieve will be the first car to make it to Westminster bridge. The money, the car, and Alan's dignity are all on the line in the race of Genevieve's life, and Alan will drive her to the edge of her capabilities.moreless
