Movie Summary

Director:
Peter Segal
Released:
2008
Rating:
PG-13
Get Smart is the movie remake of the classic action-comedy TV series featuring the bumbling spy Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell), also known as Agent 86, working alongside the beautiful and capable Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) to take down the terrorist KAOS organization headed by Siegfried, who attacked their agency's headquarters. The agents work for CONTROL, a secret American intelligence agency, where after the attacks 86 and 99 are the only agents who's cover wasn't blown. KAOS is holding nuclear weapons ransom, and threatening to release detonator codes unless they receive 200 million dollars from the government. When somebody is working as a double agent, Max must fight to prove his innocence while also stopping the threat of KAOS, and hopefully getting the girl.

Helmer Peter Segal's formulaic takeoff is neither fish nor fowl, not quite faithful to the show, but not quite bringing it into the 21st century either.
