Ghost Dad is a 1991 comedy about a workaholic widower, Elliot Harper (Bill Cosby), with three children who is killed in taxicab accident and comes back as a ghost. Before the accident, his oldest daughter (Kimberly Russell) was doing most of parenting to her younger siblings, as Elliot ignored his family for his career. His wife's lengthy illness cost the family a lot of money and an important business deal could get the family out of debt. Even after being stuck in limbo as a ghost, Elliot is still more obsessed with closing the business deal than dealing with his children. He floats above the furniture and walks through walls, sometimes visible to people and sometimes not, but still ignores things like helping his son with his homework. When his daughter mistakenly becomes a ghost herself and does not want to go back to the family, he sees the errors of his ways, and realizes he much teach his daughter the value of life. Ghost Dad is directed by Sidney Poitier from a script by Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson.moreless
