1987
Rating:

Ghost Fever is a campy comedy about the ghosts and ghouls inhabiting a wacky house of horrors. The fun begins when two police officers, Buford (Sherman Hemsley) and Benny (Luis Avalos), are sent to serve an eviction notice on a lonely Southern plantation to make way for a highway. However, this run-of-the-mill assignment quickly goes awry when they discover the house to be haunted. The residents are ghosts, including the unhappy plantation owner (Andrew Lee), who have been in the house since the Civil War and refuse to leave. Ghost Fever features not only the requisite groin punches and bonked heads that make a slapstick comedy, but also a breakdancing ghost. This film was a passion project for television star Sherman Helmsley (The Jeffersons, Amen). He sank his savings into the budget for this film. He tries to get his dollar's worth of jokes. Ghost Fever is a supernatural comedy for the whole family.
