Ghost of the Machine is a 1993 sci-fi horror film that explores what possible menace might lurk in the circuit boards of technology directed by Rachael Talalay (Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Tank Girl). Serial killer Karl Hopkins (Ted Marcoux, One Life to Live, Andersonville, Dark Blue) stalks his victims through address books he steals. His next victim looks to be Terry Munroe (Karen Allen, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Animal House, The Sandlot, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) and her pre-teen son Josh (Wil Horneff, Born to Be Wild, The Sandlot). However, a car crash and a freak lightning strike in the hospital turn Hopkins into a spirit that kills through computer networks and electrical grids. Some of the more elaborate death scenes involve a baby-sitter getting electrocuted by a dishwasher with a mind of its own, and a hilarious incident that involves a man getting 'zapped' to death by microwave rays that includes one of the best scenes in the film: a bowl of grapes deflating in the heat. Released by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.moreless
