G.I. Blues fires up romance and bravura with Army Specialist Tulsa McLean (Elvis Presley) after he gambles on a bet. Stationed in West Germany, McLean learns he must repay a debt before departing for Frankfurt the next day. His band The Three Blazes owes on a loan and the only way to settle it is to sing. A brawl erupts and buddies Cookie (Robert Ivers) and Rick (James Douglas) defend the band's honor but lose their pay because of the rough-and-tumble. Trouble doubles when army rival and Casanova Dynamite Bixby (Edson Stroll) challenges McLean. He wagers he'll win the affections of a nightclub dancer-singer Lili (Juliet Prowse) before McLean can. Lady luck plays no favorites though to Dynamite or McLean. Dynamite's rabble-rousing earns him new assignment. McLean is left to settle the wager alone. Cookie wants him to win and devises a plan that ends in surprise, confused parental identity and outrageous girl trouble. McLean quits the bet, but can he and friends convince Lili he's an honorable man and not a rakish soldier of fortune?
