1974
Rating:

Ginger In the Morning tells a story of how a beautiful yet enigmatic rebellious teenage girl, Ginger (Sissey Spacek), who, after hitchhiking a lift with the recently divorced John (Monte Markham), falls for his quiet conservative nature at the same time he falls for her enchanting and free-spirited aura. They become romantically involved and spend time together on an interesting New Year's Eve with one of John's Army friends Charlie (Mark Miller) and his wife Sugar (Susan Oliver). Ginger In the Morning then seems to enter a romantic cruise control as we are enchanted into watching the escapades and social interactions as the night progresses, with many humourous and eventful things occurring throughout. The meddling sheriff (Slim Pickens) is a distinct and funny, albeit minor role. Although this was one of Spacek's earliest roles, her portrayal of such an awkward yet rebellious young woman was such a good beginning for such a famous career.
