Ginger Snaps is the 2000 cult horror hit that puts a fresh, new and decidedly female spin on the age old, oft told werewolf tale. Two sisters Brigitte (Emily Perkins, Stephen King's It) and Ginger (Katharine Isabelle, Freddy vs. Jason) obsessed with death are attacked by a werewolf. Brigitte comes out unscathed; unfortunately Ginger does not as she is bitten by the wolf. However, after the attack Isabelle starts acting weird. She now dresses as a sex bomb. She has sexual relations with the school jock. She has fur growing on her shoulders and back and she has dead bodies piling up all over the place. A particularly potent metaphor for a teenage girl's budding sexuality and the confusion that brings, the film combines cutting edge, state of the art werewolf transformation effects with killer acting to create a fun, scary and smart werewolf movie for a new generation of horror film fans.
