The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the 2009 Swedish made international hit (adapted from the novel of the same name) directed by Niels Arden Oplev, and is now available on Netflix. Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist), A disgraced journalist awaiting sentencing, and Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace), a young and skilled computer hacker, are unlikely matched when they are hired by big-time industrialist Henrik Vanger (Sven-Bertil Taube) to investigate the disappearance of his niece forty years ago. Vanger is convinced that his niece was murdered, and the likely suspect is a member of his own family, as she disappeared on an island during a family reunion. The pair's investigation leads them into a sorted and secretive mystery and puts them in danger as it unravels. They are left with no one to trust but each other, but the troubled Lisbeth's interest in Mikael's case puts the duo at odds. This critically acclaimed thriller has gotten attention in 39 countries and is due to be remade for American audiences with Bond star Daniel Craig.moreless
