Girls Just Want to Have Fun is a lighthearted 1985 teen comedy about a military brat making her dancing dreams come true. After spending most of her life moving around the country with her strict military father, Janey (Sarah Jessica Parker, "Sex and The City") and her family settle for good in Chicago. Jane quickly makes friends with her fellow Catholic school student Lynne (Helen Hunt, Oscar winner for "As Good As It Gets"). The girls share a love for "Dance TV" the locally produced dance show, and rebelliously sneak out of school to audition. When Janey gets invited to join the show, she has to find a way to juggle her dream dance life with her father's uptight attitude. Along with lots of music, and retro fashion, look for Shannen Doherty ("Beverly Hills 90210) and Jonathan Silverman ("Weekend at Bernies") in supporting roles to make this charming comedy a complete 80's nostalgia experience.

Call me a nostalgic person who's going old school, but this movie was perfect and I really love it. I know this movie was made in the mid-1980's and I was born in the 1990's, but this movie was truly fantastic. Lots of dancing, humor and romance. And I give Sarah Jessica Parker an applause for playing this sweetheart (Janey).
