Girls Will Be Girls, directed by Richard Day, is a 2003 comedy spoof of several classic Hollywood films, including "Sunset Boulevard", "Rosemary's Baby" and "All About Eve". The film follows the lives of three women, all played by men, who are the alter egos of three male actors. Eve Harris (Jack Plotnick) is an aging diva who has turned to alcohol since being reduced to performing in commercials and reality television. Her friend and housemate Coco (Clinton Leupp) is a sad and desperate woman who longs for true love. Varla (Jeffery Roberson), the competitive and ambitious daughter of Evie's old Hollywood rival, moves in after answering Evie's ad for a third roommate. Sparks fly when the three ladies begin to compete for choice acting roles, and when Varla begins to show an interest in Evie's handsome son Stevie (Ron Mathews). Girls Will Be Girls was produced by IFC Films and has won several awards, including a Best Actress award at the US Comedy Arts Festival.moreless

Day-glo garish Girls Will Be Girls puts a rude spin on "Valley of the Dolls"-type Hollywood melodramas, to frequently hilarious if disjointed effect.

Appropriately cynical, pleasantly camp (Coco has the best hair -- a teased, sprayed flip) and just fresh enough to be funny more often than not.
