Go for Brooke is a 1951 historical action drama written and directed by Robert Pirosh, which tells the story of a unique US Army unit that achieved glory and fame on the battlefield amidst prejudice, racism and difficult battle conditions. During the World War II, the President of the United States approves the formation of 442nd Regimental Combat Team composed entirely of American volunteers of Japanese descent. The Army unit is commanded by Lieutenant Mike Grayson (Van Johnson), a prejudiced and inflexible man who believes that his soldiers are incompetent and unprepared to face the enemy. However, when the unit engages in fierce battles in Europe, including France and Italy, Grayson's soldiers (played by veterans of the unit) prove to be one of the bravest and most disciplined soldiers on the battlefield. As 442nd Regimental Combat Team wins more battles at the cost of high casualties, Lieutenant Grayson becomes more and more attached to his dedicated soldiers as they earn his respect and sympathy.moreless
