Godzilla vs. Megaguirus is a 2000 Japanese monster film and the 24th installment in the Godzilla series, although this film is a direct sequel to the original 1954 Godzilla film and ignores all plot developments from previous sequels. After Godzilla destroyed Tokyo in the first film, Japan established a special military defense force called the G-Graspers. The G-Graspers were designed specifically to battle Godzilla, should the atomic dinosaur monster return. However, when an advanced satellite weapon accidentally opens a wormhole, a new monster enters present-day Earth and the G-Graspers face a challenge no one could have prepared for. Giant monster dragonflies, called Meganulon, begin feeding in Tokyo. When Godzilla appears looking for atomic energy, the stage is set for a vicious show down between Godzilla and the Meganulon's deadly queen, Megaguirus. The smartest and bravest scientists in Japan will have to quickly come up with a way to defeat the monsters, or the ensuing battle may threaten Japan's very existence. Godzilla vs. Megaguirus is an action-packed film that stays true to the original Godzilla while dazzling viewers with modern special effects.moreless
