Gone Fishin' is a 1997 comedy film about two bumbling idiots and friends that live in New Jersey and are in search for a better life. The film follows friends Joe Waters (Joe Pesci) and Gus Green (Danny Glover) as they take a long awaited fishing trip in the Florida Everglades. Along the road trip down to Florida they are dooped by a notorious con man named Dekker Massey (Nick Brimble) who cons them out of their very own automobile. The two manage to hitch a ride from two women, Rita (Rosanna Arquette) and Angie (Lynn Whitfield), who also happen to be looking for Dekker because he stole some of their mother's possessions. Now along for the ride, Gus and Joe embark on a mission that involves weapons, hidden treasure, destructive boat chases, hideous storms, and of coarse ' fishing. In the end, they find out that they don't necessarily need the flashier things in life to be happy, but instead just one another's friendship and a few poles and lures. The film also has a cameo appearance by singer/songwriter and actor Willie Nelson.moreless
