Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson is a 2008 biographic documentary about controversial iconic writer and journalist Hunter S. Thompson. It is narrated by Johnny Depp. Hunter S. Thompson, best known for his novel "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and articles for Rolling Stone magazine, was one of the most politically influential writers of the last century. A drug loving, gun crazed, action seeking madman genius who spoke and wrote without filters and answered to nobody. He is the founder of Gonzo journalism, a new form of writing in the new literary movement where one puts themselves in the reporting. This entertaining documentary is about both this explosive life and his reckless success, chronicling his whole life and notorious public image with never before seen footage, revealing interviews and samplings of his writing. The film contains several personal accounts from such friends as: Tom Wolfe, George McGovern, Jimmy Buffet, Jimmy Carter, Jann Werner and Pat Buchanan.moreless
