Good Time Max is a family drama, written and directed by James Franco. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007. The film explores the relationship between two brothers, and how each one's success and failure influences the other's life. Max (James Franco) has a genius IQ level, but squanders both his intelligence and his youth by using drugs, running from the law, and disappointing his family. Adam (Matt Bell) is not as bright as Max and has to work harder for his success, but puts his abilities to good use, working hard in school, building a successful medical practice and surprising those around him with his continued success. When Max gets into trouble that he cannot get out of alone, he leans on his brother for support. Adam uses his reputation to help Max get clean and start a new life on the West Coast, far from his legal trouble. But when Adam's life gets harder, he is forced to confront his own limitations and the face the demons of his brother's addiction head on.moreless
