Goodbye Again is a romantic drama film directed by Anatole Litvak based on the novel Aimez-Vous Brahms? by Francoise Sagan that centers on a beautiful woman who begins an affair with a younger man after her own older lover continues to take on young mistresses. Paula (Ingrid Bergman) is a successful businesswoman with beauty and brains but when her boyfriend Roger (Yves Montand), a man five years older than her forty, insists on continuing his affairs with much younger women, Paula decides to play Roger's game. When she meets Phillip (Anthony Perkins), the much younger son of one of her clients, his naivet' and insecurity of the future leads to her sympathies. As Phillip pursues her, Paula holds out due to the stigmas attached to an older woman with a younger man. When Roger starts another affair with another, Paula and Phillip embark on an affair that would cause a crisis in her life.
