Gorky Park is a 1983 crime drama directed by Michael Apted. The discovery of three murder victims in a busy public park in Moscow sets off an investigation into their gruesome murders. Each of the three victims, two men and a woman, have had their faces cut off. As Arkady Renko (William Hurt) is discussing the crime with his associates, the KGB arrive. Immediately, Renko is aware that this brutal crime must have some political connection. Unsuccessfully trying to extricate himself from the case, Renko uncovers a clue when Irina Asanova (Joanna Pacula ) reports her ice skates missing. The skates are the same ones found on the body of the murdered woman in the park. When Renko confronts Irina, she says she knows nothing about the identity of the victims. Unconvinced, Renko takes the skulls of the murder victims to a scientist to reconstruct their facial features. Once complete, Renko confronts Irina with the skulls. Reluctantly, she identifies the victims which leads Renko into a dangerous pursuit of well-connected businessmen.moreless
