Gospel Hill is a 2008 drama about a small town haunted by a racially motivated murder that took place over thirty years ago. At that time, Peter Malcolm (Samuel L. Jackson), a civil rights activist, was assassinated right at the height of his popularity on the streets of Gospel Hill. No one was ever convicted of the crime and Peter's brother, John (Danny Glover), has withdrawn himself from the community ever since. As John begins to descent into a state of deep depression, his wife, Sarah (Angela Bassett), is helping to fight off some developers who are trying to move out generations of families in order to build a new multi-million dollar development. Sarah soon enlists the help of the town's newest teacher, Rosie (Julia Stiles), to help her save the homes of many in the town. Their lives soon collide when Sarah learns that Rosie is dating the son of the town's notoriously bigoted sheriff, Jack Herrod (Tom Bower). Herrod is the one responsible for letting Peter's murder dissipate without a conviction and now Rosie is thrust into the middle of the town's long-running feud. With locals wanting the developers out of town, Gospel Hill is forced to work together to face the ghosts of years past en route to securing its stability for the future.moreless
