Gothika is a 2003 thriller from producers Robert Zemeckis and Joel Silver, starring Academy Award-winner Halle Berry and Academy Award-nominee Robert Downey Jr. in a story about a psychiatrist who works at a women's mental hospital who, after losing consciousness following a car crash, wakes to find herself a patient in her own hospital. While driving home from work one stormy evening, Dr. Miranda Grey (Berry) swerves off the road to avoid hitting a girl in the street. Miranda tries to help the girl, but quickly discovers the seemingly-innocent child is far from ordinary. Miranda then wakes in the mental hospital she once worked in, being treated by her former colleague (Downey, Jr.) and becoming friends with her former patient (Penelope Cruz). As Miranda pieces together the clues to this frightening mystery, she begins to glimpse the shocking truth behind it all. Gothika is an exciting thriller, written by Sebastian Gutierrez and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz.
