Greedy explores the efforts of several relatives, including Frank (Phil Hartman), Carl (Ed Begely, Jr.), and Ed (Bob Balaban), to grab hold of Uncle Joe's (Kirk Douglas) vast fortune. Determined to gain favor with Uncle Joe, the three men find their plans jeopardized when Uncle Joe takes on a new mistress, Molly Richardson (Olivia d'Abo). Fearing that Molly will inherit the estate, the family searches for Daniel (Tom Mason), who left the family years ago after a major dispute. By reuniting Daniel and Uncle Joe, the family hopes to get back in Uncle Joe's good graces. Instead, the family locates Daniel's son, Danny (Michael J. Fox), a professional bowler who wants to get off the tournament circuit and open a bowling alley. Danny needs a loan to open the bowling alley, which Uncle Joe agrees to, on the condition that Danny take Uncle Joe's side against his own father and the rest of the family. Danny reluctantly agrees, if only to keep Molly from inheriting. Uncle Joe, fully aware of everyone's motives, has his own agenda, which is not one the family is prepared for.
