Green for Danger is a British suspense film starring Alastair Sim, Leo Genn, Sally Gray, and Trevor Howard. The film takes place in 1944 Great Britain, during the V-1 Doodlebug Offensive on London. A man named Joseph Higgins (Moore Marriot) dies during a surgical operation in the Heron's Park Emergency Hospital. The doctor, Barney Barnes (Trevor Howard) has seen this sort of death before and believes that a murder has occurred. Inspector Cockrill (Alastair Sim) is sent to investigate when Sister Marion Bates ( Judy Campbell) is killed when she reveals that foul play was involved in Higgins' death. The inspector takes a particular interest in the struggles of Dr. Barnes and Mr. Eden (Leo Genn) for the affection of Nurse Frederica "Freddi" Linley (Sally Gray). Green for Danger was adapted from author Christianna Brand's novel of the same title. The film was directed by Sidney Gilliat and produced by Frank Launder and Gilliat.
