Gridiron Gang is a 2006 sports drama directed by Phil Joanou (Final Analysis, State of Grace). Gridiron Gang is about a gaggle of felons at a juvenile detention center and how their camp officer Sean Porter (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, The Rundown, Be Cool, The Scorpion King, Walking Tall, Faster, The Other Guys, Doom, Race to Witch Mountain), and his friend Malcolm Moore (Xzibit, Derailed, Conspiracy Theory, Domino, XXX: State of the Union) turn the teenage criminals into football players in a matter of weeks. Confronted with gang rivalries between his teammates, Porter attempts to teach the kids self-respect and responsibility. Gridiron Gang is based on the true story of Porter's first football team, who wasn't coaching trained athletes, and whose players' parents weren't on the sidelines. There were no scholarships at stake or academic probations to worry about. The man was coaching gangbangers and murderers in a low security juvenile facility with nothing to lose and everything to gain.
